Leaning on Judith Butler here, someone with currency for both of us and readers out there as opposed to say Braidotti or Irigaray, this example you give is exactly about DOUBT, don't you think? If by and large differences between men and women socially are porous, then all the more reason to artificially enforce and police the boundaries between them, making a "feel good" mythology for all those folks out there who need and benefit from one. However, going back to some of your older posts, I'm confused about whether you're saying girls should play on gender non-exclusive teams (meaning their skills benefit as a result)? I think you mention girls and women gaining confidence and enjoying a certain camraderie on women only teams. A final question that's tangentially related but worth thinking about is why we have national sports teams? If national teams are about mythologies of the nation and patriotism, are they also in need of some deconstruction? Is the nation an organizing principal that is irrelevant or wholly suspect?Crystalnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6165780438929797577.post-66559161845409086172009-07-04T06:59:59.542-07:002009-07-04T06:59:59.542-07:00yeah totally!yeah totally!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09778172815063389928noreply@blogger.com
